PRIVATE OVERLAY

A private overlay,
hidden from screen share.

Cuekoo sits in a small see-through window on top of your call, with the live transcript, suggested answers and your notes. When you share your screen, the people on the call see your screen, not Cuekoo.

Private overlay for Windows 10 (version 2004 or later), Windows 11 and macOS 14.4 or later.

Cuekoo is left out of what your meeting app shares.

THE OVERLAY

Stays on top.
Stays out of the way.

When a session starts, Cuekoo becomes a dark, frameless overlay: a control bar, the live transcript and the answers, floating over whatever you have open. It stays on top of your meeting app, so you never switch windows to read it, and the space around its panels is see-through.

It's also left out of Alt+Tab, Task View and the taskbar, so moving between apps during a presentation never puts it on show.

Keys to know

Ctrl+Shift+L
Send the last seconds of the call
Ctrl+Shift+U
Play or pause the teleprompter

While Cuekoo is focused

Ctrl+Shift+A

Ctrl+Shift+C
Make it more solid a step
Ctrl+Arrow

Change any of them in Settings.

  • Clicks pass through

While Cuekoo isn't focused, clicks go straight to the app underneath, so the overlay never covers a button you need.

  • One key to come back

Ctrl+Shift+Space shows and focuses Cuekoo from any app, and hides it again when it's focused.

  • Where you already look

Drag it by the bar, resize it from its edges, and nudge it with Ctrl and the arrow keys. Near your camera works well.

  • As faint as you like

Fade the panels down to 40% and back, or unpin Cuekoo when you'd rather it didn't stay on top.

SCREEN SHARING

What hidden from
screen share means.

Cuekoo's private overlay works on Windows 10 version 2004 and later, Windows 11 and macOS 14.4 or later. It asks your operating system to leave the session overlay out of screen capture. Supported screen sharing and capture methods then show your screen as if Cuekoo weren't there. People see your slides, your code or your document; you see those and your notes.

The Screen share line in the ⋯ menu (More options) reads Hidden from screen share when the system confirms that protection is active. Cuekoo shows a warning if it can't enable it. Check what others see in a test call with your meeting app, on Windows or Mac. Cuekoo's own Screenshot leaves the overlay out of pictures you send the assistant.

Before a call that matters

  1. Start the session, open ⋯ (More options) and check that Screen share reads Hidden from screen share.
  2. Share your screen in a test call and look at what the others see.
  3. Stop sharing before you press End: the dashboard it returns to isn't hidden.

THE HONEST LIMITS

What the overlay
can't hide for you.

  • A camera pointed at your screen sees everything on it, Cuekoo included.

  • Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other popular meeting apps work with Cuekoo's private overlay. A capture tool that doesn't respect your operating system's screen-capture protection can still see it.

  • Only the session overlay is hidden. The dashboard, your meetings and the sign-in pages share like any other window.

  • Before Windows 10 version 2004 the overlay can't be hidden, and Cuekoo shows a warning instead.

Hiding the overlay keeps your notes and answers on your side of the screen. It isn't a way to hide that you use Cuekoo: the people you talk to should know an AI is transcribing the call, and the overlay reminds you to tell them.

FAQ

Private overlay
questions.

More about screen sharing and privacy in Help and support and the Privacy Policy.

Can other people see Cuekoo when I share my screen?

Not in a standard screen share. Cuekoo asks Windows to leave its session overlay out of screen capture, so meeting apps such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and screenshots that use Windows' standard capture, get your screen without it. Cuekoo shows "Hidden from screen share" once Windows confirms it.

A camera pointed at your screen, or a capture tool that doesn't use Windows' standard capture, can still see it. Check with a test share before a call that matters.

What does "hidden from screen share" mean?

Cuekoo asks Windows to exclude its overlay from screen capture, which Windows 10 version 2004 and later support. Meeting apps, screen recorders and screenshots that use Windows' standard capture then leave it out. The overlay is also left out of Alt+Tab, Task View and the taskbar.

Can anything still see the overlay?

Yes. A camera pointed at your screen sees it, and so can a capture tool that doesn't use Windows' standard capture. Only the session overlay is hidden: the dashboard and sign-in pages share like any other window. If Windows can't hide the overlay, Cuekoo shows a warning instead of "Hidden from screen share".

Will the overlay get in the way of my meeting app?

It's designed not to. The overlay is see-through, stays on top, and lets clicks pass through to the app underneath while it isn't focused. You can fade it, unpin it, and move it with Ctrl and the arrow keys.

How do I get back to the overlay if it's not in Alt+Tab?

Press Ctrl+Shift+Space from any app. It shows Cuekoo and focuses it, or hides it when it's already focused. You can change the key in Settings.
