CUEKOO GUIDES
How to use Cuekoo
From your first call to your own agents. Follow a guide, learn the controls, and practice at your own pace.
Start your first sessionGUIDE 01
Start your first session
Install Cuekoo and get ready for a call.
- Visit Download on your Windows PC or Mac. Install Cuekoo, then open it.
- Create an account or sign in, and verify your email when asked. For a practice run, open Tutorials in the app and choose Inside the session.
- Join your meeting in your usual meeting app. In Cuekoo, press Start session and choose the built-in Cuekoo agent or one of your own.
- Choose what to listen to and whether to turn on Save to Meetings. Start the session to open the overlay.
- Allow the audio permissions Cuekoo asks for. Turn on the system audio and microphone controls for the sides of the conversation you want transcribed.
Good to knowTry the in-app tutorials before a real call. They use sample content so you can practice the controls.
GUIDE 02
Follow the conversation
Choose what Cuekoo hears and read the live transcript.
- Use the speaker control to transcribe system audio: the voices coming from your meeting. Use the microphone control to transcribe your own voice.
- Read the transcript as it appears. You is your microphone; Them is the other side of the call.
- Open More options and use Listen to to select all system audio or a particular app when that choice is available.
- Turn a channel off to pause transcription for that side. Turn both off when you want to pause listening, then turn them back on to continue.
Good to knowIf their words are missing, check that the meeting is playing audio and that the system audio control is on. If yours are missing, check the microphone control and your microphone permission.
GUIDE 03
Get an answer during a call
Ask a question, send part of the transcript, or use question detection.
- Open the Assistant view. Type a question in the message box and press Enter. For example: “Summarize what they need and suggest a follow-up question.”
- Press Ctrl+Shift+A to ask for a suggested answer to the last thing the other side said. Use Ctrl+Shift+L to send the latest part of the transcript without typing.
- In More options, set Question detection to Assist to surface questions for you to review, or Auto to request answers automatically when available on your plan. Off leaves you in control of when to ask.
- When a question appears, choose Compose to put it in your message for editing, or Answer to request a suggestion.
- To ask about a slide or something on screen, use Screenshot or Ctrl+Shift+X. Add your question, review the attached picture, then send the message.
Good to knowUse suggested answers as a starting point. Check names, numbers and details before you say them.
GUIDE 04
Make the overlay comfortable
Focus, move, resize and fade Cuekoo while you work.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Space from your meeting app to bring Cuekoo forward. Press it again to return to your meeting.
- Use Keep on top to keep the overlay in view. Drag it to a comfortable position and use the bottom-right grip to resize it.
- Open More options and adjust Opacity, or press Ctrl+Shift+Minus and Ctrl+Shift+Equal to lower or raise it.
- Use Hide panels when you want more room for the call. Bring Cuekoo forward before clicking its controls when it is unfocused.
Good to knowAfter focusing Cuekoo, you can keep Ctrl+Shift held, release Space and press another control key. See the shortcut reference below for movement keys on Windows and Mac.
GUIDE 05
Create an agent for your calls
Choose how Cuekoo should answer for interviews, sales or another kind of meeting.
- Open Agents. Choose New agent or start from a template and edit your copy.
- Give it a clear name and description. In Instructions, describe your role, the kind of call, and how you want answers written.
- For example: “Help me explain our product to a prospective customer. Keep answers short, ask when a detail is missing, and suggest one useful follow-up question.”
- Adjust the answer length, language, question detection and transcript settings. Attach relevant knowledge bases in Context if you want answers to use your documents.
- Ask a sample question in Try this agent. Refine the instructions, then select the agent the next time you start a session.
Good to knowOpen Tutorials → Creating a custom agent for a practice run with a sample agent.
GUIDE 06
Use your documents in answers
Give an agent the background it needs, such as a CV or product information.
- Open Knowledge base and choose New knowledge base. Name it for the information you will keep there.
- Open it and choose Add content. Upload supported files or paste text. Use the file types and size limits shown in the dialog.
- Wait for the documents to finish processing. Review any failed items and retry or replace them before the call.
- Open your agent and attach the knowledge base in Context. Test a question that needs a detail from your documents.
- When an answer includes a source chip, open it to read the supporting text. Keep your documents current as information changes.
Good to knowA knowledge base must be attached to the agent you use in the session. Uploading a document alone does not attach it to every agent.
GUIDE 07
Save and review a meeting
Keep the conversation and return to its notes after the call.
- Before starting the session, turn on Save to Meetings in Choose an agent.
- Run the session with the audio channels you want to transcribe. When the call is over, press End.
- Open Meetings and select the saved call. Wait for its notes to finish if they are still being written.
- Review the overview, topics and action items. Use the transcript search to find a name, decision or phrase, and open AI chat to review the conversation's questions and answers.
Good to knowChoose whether to save before the session begins. With Save to Meetings off, the session will not appear in Meetings afterward.
GUIDE 08
Read a script with TeleCue
Prepare what you want to say and keep notes beside your script.
- Open Scripts, create a script and write what you want to say. Use Manual notes for supporting notes you want nearby.
- Start a session and select your script when offered, or open it in the overlay's TeleCue view.
- Press Play to scroll the script. Use Slower, Faster and the text size controls to make it comfortable to read.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+U to play or pause from your meeting app. Use Back to top when you want to start again.
- Open the notes and scripts beside the reader to edit while you talk. Switching between Assistant and TeleCue does not stop the session.
Good to knowYour manual notes and scripts stay on this computer. TeleCue can be used without an account; the teleprompter needs TeleCue access. Try Tutorials → TeleCue with a sample script first.
GUIDE 09
When a control does not work
Check focus, permissions and your settings before the next call.
- If an overlay control does not respond, press your focus shortcut first. Opacity, movement and message shortcuts work inside the focused session window.
- If a shortcut does not match this guide, open Settings and review your bindings. Another app may already use a global shortcut; choose a different combination if Cuekoo reports a conflict.
- On Mac, review Cuekoo's microphone and screen or system audio recording permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Reopen Cuekoo if the permission prompt asks you to.
- If an answer or feature is unavailable, check your connection and the allowances shown in Plan. Follow any explanation shown beside the control.
- For an update, finish the session first. Open Settings → About, choose Check for updates and follow the update prompt.
Good to knowStill stuck? Visit Help and support and describe what you pressed and what happened.
